Two long days at work and one boot camp class plus a lot of driving makes me a very tired girl. Going to call it a night and leave you with two pictures. The first is my friend Katie Lewis and I drinking flights of wine a few years ago at 13.5 Wine Bar. Her birthday was this past Tuesday and I love her a lot! Friends since high school, she is one of the most loyal people I know, so glad to have her in my life. She also lost her grandmother on her birthday so I am sending extra good thoughts her way.

I had a hard time deciding what to blog about today until the decision pretty much greeted me at the door. After working a double at work, Michael told me he had a present for me as he started to gather the stack of mail piled on the table. A present in the form of bills, the kind that you wish you could re-gift! Hello overdue loans and bank statements, not to mention the various medical offices telling me I still owe such and such amount of money after I thought my insurance covered it.

Well, I ended up taking yesterday off. My intentions with this blogging challenge are to post every day no matter what, however, sometimes one just has to take a breather. Known for being hard on myself, I take deadlines seriously and feel terrible if they are not met to the best of my ability. I mentioned to Michael how awful I felt for not posting yesterday and he reminded me to just pick up and keep going, giving up altogether is not the answer. Despite being disappointed in myself, the past two days have been productive and fun. Happily keeping up with my running and yoga goals, I took advantage of the nice weather today and did both. Somehow, I managed this after celebrating my friend Siska’s birthday last night! Below is a picture of Beth, myself and the birthday girl at Woodberry Kitchen.

It’s been a long day and last night was no picnic either due to the little guy below. My cat, Silas, has not been feeling well the past few days and woke Michael and I up throughout the night. I will spare you the gruesome details, hint, he was unable to keep food or water down.

I have had Silas for most of my ten years in Baltimore. He has moved around with me and kept me company through the good and bad, the one roommate who does not change. Like many cats, he has his quirks. Licking or eating plastic is one of them and may very well be the culprit for his current ailment. My parents offered to take him to the vet today because Michael and I were both working, so thankful to have them close enough to help out. Here is where we stand at the moment, I was offered the option to try $80 medicine or spend over $600 on blood work and x-rays. Looks like I’m going with the medicine for now, keeping a close eye on the little guy. Stay tuned, I will admit, I am willing to go out of my way to keep my buddy Silas around.

One of my resolutions for 2012 is to go to a yoga class once a week, this can be hard when yoga is often expensive and offered at times that conflict with my schedule. My general form of exercise is to run out the door and around my neighborhood, Mount Vernon, for a good 45 minutes. However, running is not enough, I want to incorporate strength training and stretching into my regimen. Enter yoga, it works your core muscles, enhances balance, stretches you out, then calms you down!

One of my favorite things to do is make kitchen sink meals. You’ve heard about them before, take everything you have, including the kitchen sink and mix it up into an edible meal. Sounds questionable at first, can one really use all the scraps from the fridge and create a tasty meal? The answer is yes, you just have to be smart about what you choose to make and adding just the right spices doesn’t hurt either. Stir fry’s and soups are my top choices.

Not feeling so hot the past few days, trying to flush out any illness with lots of liquids and not the alcoholic kind! Actually, on my recent trip to Indiana, my boyfriend’s father mentioned that he has been adding apple cider vinegar to his juice in the morning because it is full of health benefits. Easily swayed to try various health suggestions, I decided to overlook its sour taste and add a Tablespoon to my daily regimen.     Read the rest of this entry »

Today, Katie (red) Shinsato and I went to pick up all the photos from our ‘Baltimore: Place to Place‘ photography exhibit that has been shown at The Wind Up Space for the past two months. Here is Katie just after we loaded up our cars with Baltimore photographs.

We have exciting news, the show is currently in the early stages of moving to a new location, Baltimore’s Youth Hostel located in Mount Vernon. Here is a brief description of the project and some pictures from our opening back in early November.

“Baltimore: A Place to Place Photo Project: the project is intended to examine place, more importantly to acknowledge  the space around you and then take a deeper look at your surroundings by photographing them. Members of the project are Baltimore residents from various areas, some with a photography background and many without. Each participant was told to share a place of interest in Baltimore, options could be as broad as an entire neighborhood or as specific as someones favorite tree. Locations are then swapped amongst members and participants are asked to photograph a place that they did not choose. This allows the photographer to go somewhere that may be new to them and capture the space in whatever creative light they desire. ”
